Volunteer Opportunities at Lifebridge

05-21-2019

Lifebridge North Shore strongly depends on volunteers to operate. Our volunteer programs and opportunities are perfect for you if you’re a local resident, and/or you’re interested in doing your part to help the community. There are endless volunteer options at Lifebridge North Shore, so we wrote this blog to help you keep track.

In our region of New England, winters can be harsh, and summers can be hot. This means volunteers are always needed, as our services are always in high demand as the seasons change.

During the winter, our beds are in high demand at our emergency & transitional shelters. In order to accommodate the increase in demand for services during the winter months, we add an additional 18 beds at our Seeds of Hope location. Seeds of Hope in Salem, MA provides 36 shelter beds, and River House in Beverly has 34 emergency beds available. Lifebridge services are important to individuals who need additional support, especially during peak seasons.

With more people at our shelters and more people in need of case management, we utilize volunteers who want to help. During the summer, our community meals program has volunteer opportunities available during June, July, and August 2019. We rely on volunteers for dinners and weekend meals that are served on our Seeds of Hope campus in Salem. With more people to support during the busy times of the year, we appreciate all of the volunteer efforts we receive.

Kitchen volunteers are needed to help us prepare, cook, and clean after meals are served at the Grace Center. The Grace Center is our day shelter in Gloucester that serves more than 1100 individuals yearly thanks to the help of our volunteers.

At our thrift shop, we’re always accepting volunteers. You can volunteer at the Lifebridge Thrift Shop and assist with folding, sorting, and hanging clothes, store staging, and accepting donation drop-offs.

Specialized skills are always valued for group leaders at Lifebridge. If you have a specialized skill, consider applying for a volunteer opportunity at Lifebridge to run groups and workshops. Our groups, programs, and activities you could assist with include resume building, job search skills, financial management, coping skills and more.

Volunteer opportunities at Lifebridge are always changing, so be sure to stay up to date with all of our opportunities on the volunteer page of our website.
