People who are street homeless (unhoused and not living in a shelter) are often isolated from the same essential services as those who have access to regular case management, prepared community meals, and donated clothing. Our community outreach program directly addresses this gap with:
By directly and regularly engaging with people who don’t use shelters or centers, we steadily build trust.
We partner with Community Impact Units (CIUs) in Salem and Gloucester to help identify vulnerable individuals in the area, and work to connect them with the services they need. These efforts can mean coordinating shelter placements, behavioral health and substance use disorder referrals, or connecting people with day center case management.
Additionally, we meet once a month with CIUs and other area providers, to discuss and coordinate care for the most vulnerable individuals in our area. These crucial meetings make our community more efficient and resilient in addressing homelessness.
When violent storms and extreme temperatures threaten people’s health and safety, Lifebridge’s emergency protocols can save lives. The trust and knowledge that we’ve built with people who are street homeless makes it much easier to get people inside, even if they don’t normally use our centers and shelters.
