After suffering months of abuse, I came to the Grace Center during the day. What helped me rebuild my life was participating in Grace Center activities that were therapeutic – joining a writing group, playing Bingo and cards, knitting and crocheting. The staff did everything possible to make my life easier including helping me understand the bus system, getting a new PCP, and connecting me to Mass Health and domestic violence and legal services.
I was able to rebuild my life in this new community. I now have stable housing, working part-time, and am going back to school at North Shore Community College.
I will forever be grateful to the volunteers and employees at the Grace Center. It is one of the places that I experienced freedom.
